Mashup Mondays: “Will A G6 Roll” + Kanye & Bieber “Runaway Love (Remix)

The mashup for today is a mashup from Princeton University’s own, “The MashMaticians.” Man what a great name for the duo, almost on the same level as the other mashup group “Super Mash Brothers.” Anyways the song is called “Will A G6 Roll” and features Far East Movement and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Can’t say it’s better than anything of the originals but definitely a great alternative to listen to. Download now!

Bonus Track:

Special bonus today will be the song that Kanye West and Justin Bieber has been hinting about awhile and since it just came out today, I decided to blog about it. It’s called “Runaway Love (Remix)” and is the first collaboration between the two big name artists and also features Raekwon. This track was first mentioned on Twitter after Kanye started following Justin Bieber, the only person Kanye is following, and how they wanted to make the collaboration a reality. This is the outcome of that. The track is not bad but could’ve done without the JB imo. Check it out.

Sucker Free Sundays: Teenage Dream (Liam Keeger Remix)

Sorry about not blogging much in the past 2 days since I was in San Diego for World of Dance without much time for blogging, but hopefully I will get back on track and upload up more interesting articles/ new music. Todays song will be a new remix I got from Liam Keeger; “Teenage Dream (Liam Keeger Remix”). This is, imo, better than the original cause it’s at least more bearable than just a female song. The electro elements of it makes the song much better and something I would actually spin. Check it out and download now!

Slammin’ Saturdays: Kanye West “Monster”

Kanye West announced on his Twitter that he will start G.O.O.D. Fridays, where he will blog a new song from the G.O.O.D. family every Friday. It seemed to have started two weeks ago with “See Me Now” but I didn’t blog about it because it was somewhat of a weak song. Last week, “Power (Remix)” was released by the rapper. Today’s post is about Kanye’s new song with Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, & Bon Iver. Check it out now.

Future Rock Band

Just stumbled upon another video by YouTube user: freddiew. These guys are easily becoming my next favorite stars on YouTube after making a slew of funny/cool videos. Their style is usually a futuristic approach with lots of parody, which is why they’re really funny. They’re also very high tech and has the up-to-date feel while still being low budget projects. I give major props to these guys for being able to consistently do it. And for this video, it had something to do with music, in general, so why not post it on a music blog? It is also pretty cool to watch and see how it could be like in the future. Check it out & make sure you watch it in HD.

Funky Fridays: Power (DJ Kue Remix)

Dj Kue is one of my favorite DJ remixer and “Power” is one of my favorite songs so when I got a hold of this remix; it was like a match made in heaven. This remix is not necessarily better than the original but it brings more of a little of something new and is a refreshing version of the original song. There is more of a electro mix in the beginning but when you hit around 3 mins, you will see more of the hip hop elements of the song. Otherwise a clean remix overall and I got it pretty quickly so I’ll put it up right now. This is somewhat an upgrade of the OH SNAP! Remix of Power. Download straight from the soundcloud!

Blast from the Past: Aaliyah

aaliyah2001

Although I’ll admit I don’t listen to Aaliyah a whole lot, I would like to pay my respects to her musical career. She has been through a whole lot- being a model, singer, and even an actress. She has even worked with today’s music artists such as Timbaland, Missy Elliott, & R. Kelly for her debut and 2nd album. Aaliyah is not only a great singer but was a Grammy-nominated Best Female R&B Vocalist and Top Billboard 100 for the song “Try Again”- which is a great feat for her solo career. Aaliyah’s acting career was then first seen on the big screen alongside Jet Li in “Romeo Must Die” and moved on to roles such as “Queen of the Damned” and was even scheduled for “The Matrix.” It was during an unlucky day in 2001 that her and her entourage’s plane crashed in the Bahamas after shooting a music video; it seemed as if it was a weight/balance issue. Her posthumous career went on and now her music lives inside a part of all of us. She left behind a legacy and impacted the R&B genre in the 90′s where she was described as one of “R&B’s most important artists” during the 1990s. As I am also 1 day late of her 9th anniversary, I would like to dedicated this whole blog post to Aaliyah and her career. R.I.P. Aaliyah. Please Retweet this or Share this on FB for Aaliyah.

Thumpin’ Thursdays: Drake – Unforgettable (Keys N Krates Remix)

It’s called Thumpin’ Thursdays but today’s song is more of a chill song than a thumpin’ one. Keys N Krates, from Toronto, remixed Unforgettable, a song by Drake & Young Jeezy who also featured Aaliyah on the vocals. The original itself is sick but is also pretty old. I’ll include the original song as so everyone can see the comparison between the new remix and the original. Also since yesterday was the 9th anniversary of Aaliyah’s passing, it’s only suitable to blog about her and give remembrance to that sad day in 2001. I’ll make this post a 2-part post as Aaliyah’s career is too important to share a post.

Musical Spotlight: Wale

wale-attention-deficit-album-cover

This next musical spotlight is for a huge underrated rapper from DC named Wale. Wale was first heard from after the songs “Nike Boots” & “Chillin’ Ft. Lady Gaga” back in 08-09. Since then he has released a bunch of mixtapes and freestyles on youtube where he displays his rap flows on every song. He even did a freestyle remix with Justice’s D.A.N.C.E called W.A.L.E.D.A.N.C.E. where he raps smoothly on the beat. Since then, he has been signed to Interscope and Roc Nation where he worked with Kid Cudi, Lupe, Jay-Z, and Kanye among others; where I first found out about him. Wale also almost teamed up on a monster song with Kid Cudi and Drake, all of whom have been nominated for the MTV Best New Artist award; where Lady Gaga prevailed. Wale released his debut alum “Attention Deficit” in Nov ’09 with singles like “Chillin’”, “Pretty Girls”, “World Tour.” Although Wale’s name has been recognized nationally, he isn’t getting enough credit for his music. His style is much different than today’s rap and described similarly as a “sampling-Kanye, little bit of Lil’ Wayne, indie-undergroundish” which makes it so much better. Hopefully Wale can keep grinding, releasing new material, cause I know all of us will be waiting for it.
